Hi I'm Reuben

I live in a stunning valley near Stroud with my wife and two young children. We love our rural surroundings and feel fortunate to have the lifestyle it offers. I enjoy spending time with my diverse extended family and cooking for friends too. 
I have travelled extensively and love exploring different countries and cultures. For over ten years I was a professional photographer.
Occasionally DJing, I love music, art, reading, cooking, playing guitar and painting when I can. I enjoy swimming, outdoor jogging and playing tennis. 
Most of all I love the work I do in talking therapies by helping people to grow or improve their own lives.

Therapy Approaches

Person Centred Therapy

My approach is a person-centred one. This means it is non-directive as I will work from your own personal set of circumstances. Therapeutic healing starts with you.
Our sessions together are underpinned by empathy, being genuine with each other and unconditional positive regard for you and anything you want to bring to our sessions. Then, depending on your preference, we may use other therapy models to help you move forward. 

Psychotherapy

When applying a psychodynamic approach,  as a counsellor I can help you to realise how to overcome the traumatic incidents of your childhood and adolescence. Enabling you to better understand how this has directly impacted your behaviour as an adult in the present day. 

Transactional Analysis / Gestalt 

Transactional Analysis provides a tool for exploring the interaction between people in your life and what is going inside for those people. By looking at what is happening within and around a situation for these people.
It can also offer alternative options for the people in that situation to be considered and acted upon.   
Gestalt therapy in practice involves your complete participation at emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual levels. Through this process, you can identify conflicts on these parts that are prohibiting you from experiencing life to the full. 

Cognitive Behavioral 

Through this structured approach to therapy, you begins to learn ways of coping independently. CBT’s success has seen a solid evidence base in the treatment of mild conditions. It has shown how avoiding situations that make us anxious serve only to amplify our anxiety. Facing the anxiety breaks down the fear and enables long-term coping skills
