'The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination'.
- Carl Rogers (Pioneer of person centred therapy)

How we work

Therapy offers an important step in discovering the world around us and finding our place in it. For some people, coming to therapy is a big step. It can take courage to identify a need to heal, recover or progress. My approach aims to ensure that you feel safe in the knowledge that you can trust the therapeutic process. Thinking about painful memories and feelings can help us work towards a more fulfilling, enriched and happy life. I encourage you to come with an open mind about the positive possibilities that therapy can offer you.
So, if you are feeling anxious, depressed or just lacking direction we can work together to find positive ways forward for you in your journey through life.
You may have experienced a traumatic event in the past and need to find ways to overcome pain, loss or bereavement.
Perhaps you are struggling in a relationship with your partner, family member, work colleague or just find it difficult to find confidence or self-esteem.  These are all very normal human emotions. Talking therapy can help with any of these issues as well as many other more specific ones.

Hi I'm Reuben - Lead Counsellor

My name is Reuben, I am an integrative NCS Registered Counsellor, Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapeutic Counsellor  Psy C & Supervisor.

I run a successful private practice based near Stroud, Gloucestershire.  Offering face-to-face, online and ‘walk and talk’ sessions to my private clients.

My approach is a person-centre, integrative one. This means I will hold you emotionally, working from your personal set of circumstances because therapeutic healing starts with you.  In this sense I often think of it as facilitating the change you want to see.

Our work together is centred around empathy, being genuine with each other and unconditional positive regard for you and anything you want to bring to our sessions. Then, depending on your preference, we may use other therapy models to help you move forward.

I also facilitate group workshops in both the commercial, public and private sector.

I live in a stunning valley near Stroud with my wife and two young children. We love our rural idyll and feel fortunate to have the lifestyle it offers. I enjoy spending time with my diverse extended family and cooking for friends too.

I have travelled extensively and love exploring different countries and cultures. For over ten years I was a professional photographer and still take some commissions.

Occasionally DJing, I love music, art, reading, cooking, playing guitar and painting when I can. I enjoy swimming, outdoor jogging and playing tennis.

Most of all I love the work I do in talking therapies by helping people to grow or improve their own lives.

I am a qualified Hypnotherapist registered with the National Hypnotherapy Society.

Fee:  £55 for 50 mins / £60 p/hour

Hi I'm Ali - Neurodiversity Specialist

Please note:  Although both Ali and I have experience working with neurodivergence, neither of us are qualified to diagnose.  This must be done through your GP and usually by a Psychiatrist.

I am a professional counsellor and a caring, friendly and approachable person who is very motivated to help people. I am non-judgemental, very empathetic and aim to create a warm environment in which to help clients.

I provide specialised counselling for neurodiverse people. From personal experience and working with numerous clients, I understand the struggles that neurodiverse people go through. I am experienced in helping people go through their own neurodiversity journey, helping people before and after a diagnosis and working through struggles they have and supporting them with strategies to help.

I adopt a person centred approach but can adapt my style to suit individual needs. I will work with you emphatically helping you to move forward in a positive way.

I am able to help neurodiverse clients with self esteem, anxiety and low moods and support and understanding of relationship issues. I have a lot of experience of working with autism and ADHD and understand the challenges that people can experience such as sensory issues, mood regulation and task motivation.

Many neurodiverse people struggle with organisation which I'm able to assist with and rethinking and replanning their day to create a better balance and sense of well being. I have worked with all ages from teenagers and the confusion of why they feel different up to elderly people with a realisation they may be neurodiverse

Fee: £55 per 50 mins.

Hi I'm Carla - Counsellor

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and believe every human is unique and the expert of their own lives. I feel passionate that the counsellor and client relationship is key to the work and can meet my clients with empathy, warmth and non-judgment allowing them to speak openly from their own frame of reference in a safe and trusting space. I believe that by accepting my clients fully where they are at, will navigate change at a pace that is safe for them.

I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to enter each client's unique world and sit alongside and support them in their therapeutic process and witness their own acceptance and change to live their life more fully.

I have worked at a local hospice as a counsellor, where I worked with clients in bereavement and clients experiencing end of life care. I saw firsthand how important it is to be able to provide a confidential space for them to be authentic without fear of being judged or upsetting friends or family members at this difficult time in their lives.

Fee: £45 per 50 mins

Hi I'm Caleb - Trainee Counsellor

Hi everyone, my name is Caleb and I'm a trainee counsellor with a decade's worth of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals in supported housing. I bring this background into my work as a counsellor, offering an open-minded, non-judgemental, and client-led approach. Whether you're navigating anxiety, stress, or seeking a space to be heard, I'm here to support you in a way that works for you.

I'm particularly passionate about person-centred therapy, where you take the lead, and we work together at your pace. I understand the importance of creating a safe, confidential space where you feel empowered to explore whatever is on your mind.

In my free time, I'm a keen football fan and can be seen regularly attending my local gym (alas, the Adonis-like physique is yet to be obtained!). I believe that well-being encompasses both the mind and body. With a balance of understanding, empathy, and practical support, I'm here to help you work towards your goals.

Fee: £30 per 50 mins
